The UK government has published its response to the consultation on proposed changes to tipping in the hospitality sector.
The consultation, which ran between 5 February and 1 April 2026, sought views on new requirements for employers to consult workers when developing or reviewing tipping policies, alongside proposed updates to the statutory Code of Practice.
The UK government’s response outlines measures designed to improve fairness, transparency and worker involvement in workplace tipping policies.
If approved by the UK Parliament, the proposed measures are expected to come into effect in October 2026.
