New Fellows: Philip M. Barnes FIH, Regional Vice President & Managing Director, The Savoy | Institute of HospitalityEarlier this month new Fellows of the Institute of Hospitality celebrated during a wonderful evening at The Savoy. Among our latest intake of Fellows is Philip M. Barnes FIH,  Regional Vice President & Managing Director of that very same hotel.

What does The Savoy have planned this year?

The Savoy is a world-famous property with a 130 year reputation for excellence and innovation. What’s important now is that we look to the future, creating experiences through new ideas and originality that will ensure our guests continue to be inspired to stay with us for the next 130 years. We will achieve that through placing even greater emphasis in 2019 on our people here at The Savoy; our colleagues, our ambassadors, and our partners.

And for you personally?

In addition to the ongoing needs of the Savoy and the other properties that fall under my remit as Regional Vice President, a major focus for me is to continue to support our sales and marketing efforts in different markets so travel will take up much of my time. On the personal side, I have three fantastic adult children who, despite living in far-flung places, often descend on me for a taste of all that London has to offer.

How does it feel to be a Fellow of the Institute of Hospitality?

It’s a great honour to become a Fellow and I look forward to joining others dedicated to developing the leaders of the future in the hospitality industry.
