The new donation option will help raise vital funds to support hospitality people facing financial hardship, illness, poor mental health and other challenging circumstances. It comes at a time when Hospitality Action says calls to its helpline and requests for financial assistance are at an all-time high.
The initiative builds on the existing partnership between the two charities. Earlier this year, IoH Funded Membership, paid for through the IoH Bursary Fund, was added to Hospitality Action’s Care Pack for grant recipients, giving them the opportunity to apply for a fully funded 12-month membership of the Institute.
The membership provides access to professional development, mentoring, learning resources and connections across the Institute’s global community, helping people remain professionally connected at a time when they may need that support most.
Announcing the latest initiative, the Institute’s CEO Robert Richardson FIH MI Hon DLitt said: “Hospitality is a profession built around people, and looking after one another matters. Through Hospitality Action’s Care Pack, we can help people facing hardship stay connected to their profession. This new donation option now gives those joining the IoH a simple way to support Hospitality Action in return and help them continue their vital work.”

Every donation, whatever its size, helps us provide practical, financial and emotional support to hospitality people facing difficult times.”
In 2025, Hospitality Action awarded 2,458 grants worth £1.05 million, supporting 825 households and 495 children. Together with £537,000 in previously unclaimed benefits unlocked through its specialist welfare advice, the charity’s total financial impact exceeded £1.5 million.

To date, the IoH Bursary Fund has supported almost 200 hospitality professionals through Funded Membership, helping them access professional development, mentoring and career support. Applications are open to members and non-members worldwide who are facing financial hardship.
