Have you ever considered becoming a mentor with the Institute of Hospitality?
We are looking to bring together new pairs of mentors and mentees this September. Members and Fellows will be introduced to a recent entrant to the hospitality industry or someone studying a hospitality degree or apprenticeship.
Our Mentor Me programme is a much valued exclusive member benefit and you too can take part. There is no charge to enrol as either a mentor or a mentee and it is a great way to give something back to the industry you are passionate about.
It involves six meetings, usually an hour once a month / period of time and has a set of suggested discussion topics. The mentee will be doing the research work using the Institute’s online resources to come up with suggestions and thoughts on the subject matter.
Guidelines for the Mentee and guidelines for the Mentor are available online.
Occasionally members look to be mentored and while the programme is aimed at student members and Associates (AIH) to undertake some guided learning on topical industry issues alongside monthly meetings, we are happy to assist where possible.
Watch a short video from Neil Shorthouse FIH sharing his experience of being a mentor with us.
Don’t miss this opportunity to share your experience and knowledge. You will be helping to keep and develop the new talent entering our industry and inspire them towards a successful career.
Alistair Sandall FIH, Head of Professional Development says, “Mentor Me either as a mentee or a mentor is part of the commitment we have to the development of individuals in the industry. It’s another benefit of membership and is designed to help our student members and Associates (AIH). They are matched with experienced Members (MIH) and Fellows (FIH) to undertake some guided learning on topical industry issues alongside regular meetings. Mentor Me is mentoring with a difference; it focuses on career growth and development for both experienced and new hospitality managers.”
We will be starting a new programme in September. If you would like to be one of our new mentors or indeed take part again, get in touch by emailing your contact details to email@example.com. Only current and fully paid Members and Fellows can participate in the programme.
