Being a member has afforded me a range of opportunities that without doubt have enhanced my professional development and career progression. From online resources to networking opportunities, CPD events and being part of the Mentor Me programme, the Institute provides a wide range of benefits that in my view are key for any manager or aspiring manager in the industry today.
I enjoy the social and networking aspect of the Institute of Hospitality. Most recently being a mentor with the Institute of Hospitality has showed me that we have some great leaders coming through. They need to be guided and supported at all times, so that we can leave a great legacy and be inspirational to those joining the industry.
What I value most from my membership is the network of industry individuals that I have met across many different sectors and who have taken the time to share their amazing careers, knowledge and advice with me which only motivates and inspires me further. The Mentor Me programme is another valuable element which I have recently started and utilises the knowledge and wealth of experiences of the mentor to guide and assist individuals (like myself) to achieve their career goals.
I am a fairly new member (February 2018), so I am still exploring the benefits by working my way through the website. I love reading the HQ magazine which is packed with news and relevant articles.
Through my membership I value the networking opportunities available by attending events. I think it’s incredibly important not only to support your career progression, but it’s a great personal support to have a group of people you know from across the industry and different sectors.
