Dr Maria Gebbels MIH, Associate Professor in Hospitality has been appointed as vice chair of the Council of Hospitality Management Education (CHME) for the next 3 years.

CHME is a leading organisation which lobbies government bodies and external organisations to strengthen and develop hospitality management education.

Dr Alisha Ali, Associate Professor in Hospitality and Tourism at Sheffield Hallam University was elected as chair.

Speaking of her appointment, Dr Gebbels said: “I am very grateful to have been given the opportunity to support the Chair in leading initiatives that promote and value hospitality management education, through meaningful collaborations with our institutional and industry partners.

Investing in hospitality education now will ensure that future, global leaders are equipped with skills and knowledge to meet challenges, foster innovation, and ensure long-term, sustainable growth.”

CHME’s core purpose is to foster excellence in international hospitality management education through cutting-edge research, innovative and engaging teaching and meaningful collaborations with value-based education providers and hospitality industry partners.

CHME works closely with industry partners and other organisations to promote effective and beneficial links between industry and education and to share research and scholarship which informs practice in the hospitality industry.
