With the 10th anniversary of National Mentoring Day, the importance of helping individuals achieve personal and career growth through mentoring is again in the spotlight.
The benefits of mentoring in the recent Future Skills Report show that 87% of mentors and mentees report increased confidence and career satisfaction. Plus, 20% were more likely to receive pay raises as a direct result of mentoring participation.
Mentoring is a key element of the Institute’s professional development toolkit as IoH Head of Professional Development, Sam Coulstock FIH MIEP confirms: “Our world-class mentoring programmes helps assist with networking, emotional intelligence, leadership, public speaking, teamwork, and business skills, and much more. And if you are an IoH member you can access all this expertise for free.
“The Institute’s Mentoring programmes have successfully matched mentors and mentees together over many years. As an IoH Mentor, skilled members give their time to help other Institute members achieve their goals. We match all our mentors to our mentees to ensure both parties obtain a successful outcome.
Sam concluded: “Mentoring can play a particularly crucial role in the personal and professional development of entry-level talent who may need extra support at the beginning of their career; it is an invaluable tool, and it’s free so why wouldn’t use it?”
