New DEIB Council Chair appointed

Mark Grant MIH, sales director at ep&t global has been appointed Chair of the Institute of Hospitality’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) Council.

Mark, who had a successful career managing hotels across London, the Midlands, and the southeast of England, took the essence of hospitality into managing business spaces in central London before later becoming sales director for ep&t global.

Welcoming Mark to the team, the Institute’s CEO Robert Richardson FIH MI said: “We are delighted to have Mark onboard. Having worked with Mark many years ago, I know he is an excellent people manager, possessing a rare ability to coach and guide.

I am confident Mark‘s results-driven approach will help push the Institute’s DEIB Council forward.”

Mark confirmed: “I have years of experience in the hospitality sector, both directly and indirectly and I am passionate about people and the power a collective group can make, both in influencing decisions and making things happen.

“I adopted the fundamental approach of DEIB many years ago and as chair of the Institute’s DEIB Council, I am honoured and excited to bring my skills and experience to my fellow council members, the Institute and the wider hospitality industry.

The Institute launched its DEIB council in 2022 with the purpose of addressing visual and non-visual disability, equality, diversity, and inclusion issues across the diverse hospitality industry.

The DEIB Council focused on supporting UN Sustainable Development Goals 5, Gender Equality, 8, Decent Work & Economic Growth, and 10, Reduced Inequalities, the Council focus on meeting specific strategic diversity and inclusion objectives to tackle issues around Leadership, learning and development, physical environment adjustments; retention, customers, procurement and communication and technology within the sector.
