Episode Six of the IoH I’m In podcast, hosted by Phil Street FIH is available to Members today (Thursday 24 February), via the Members’ area of our website or to listen to on the IoH Connect app.
Hosted as always by Phil Street FIH, he asks; Social Media is now ruling how people consume information so is it a useful servant or a lousy master?
Social media dominates how the world consumes its information these days and so what better topic is there to put through its paces with the help of three more superstars from within the IoH membership (including our very own Head of Marketing!).
For this broad subject, Phil was joined by Joshua Wilson AIH, Kim Bailey MIH and Harry Murray FIH.
As well as learning why all our guests said #imin to the IoH we got through some of the good and the bad of social as well as learning one of the best pieces of trolling ever received by Phil.
Some of the good points raised were; it can develop and promote a brand, instantly connection with your customers, can build communities, build connections and it be a place of comfort for introverts. Some of the bad points were that it can place an unrealistic pursuit of non-existent perfection, can lead to gratification addiction, push notifications are evil, can lead to loss of social capability, scamming and spamming and of course online bullying, a sad reality for many on social media.
Despite some doom, this is a wonderfully upbeat conversation with some great perspectives from the guests. A huge thank you to our guests who absolutely brought the passion.
