Kellie Rixon MBE FIH becomes Chair as Institute announces best results for over a decade as membership continues to grow.
The Institute of Hospitality, the UK based international professional body for the industry introduced Kellie Rixon MBE FIH as the incoming Chair at their Annual General Meeting, presented online on September 10th.
Reporting record results for 2019 outgoing Chair Robin Sheppard FIH noted the ongoing evolution of the Institute in the fast-changing world.
At the Institute’s AGM on 10th September, Robin Sheppard FIH stood down as Chair and introduced Kellie Rixon MBE FIH as incoming Chair.
Robert Richardson FIH has joined Adam Rowledge FIH as joint Vice-Chair.
Presenting the report for 2019 (the AGM had been delayed due to Covid-19) Robin reported strong growth, a return to a surplus outcome and a significant increase in both members and commercial partners.
In 2019 the Institute welcomed 1,276 new full members, introduced a category of membership to support those taking hospitality apprenticeships in alliance with HIT Training which attracted 5,600 members and closed the year with 4,200 students from 63 schools of Hospitality Management located in a total of 24 countries, reflecting the International nature of the Institute and of our Industry.
In her first address to members Kellie noted what a challenging and critical time this is for our Industry, and the role that the Institute has in supporting members as they plan for the future. She paid tribute to Robin, to the staff and to the commitment of her fellow trustees.
