Why Delivering a Customised Guest Experience is More Important Than Ever

21 April 2020

Our friends at Amadeus are hosting an Institute of Hospitality webinar on 28 April. We spoke to them about what you can expect from it.

It’s an uncertain time to be in Hospitality. How many times have you heard this sentence over the past couple of months? It’s repetitive, but true. For hoteliers, this is unchartered territory, and it’s difficult to know how best to act.

Preparation is key.

We may not be able to depend on previous events to predict the future. But that’s not to say that now is the time to wait and see until things look like they’re going back to normal. In fact, we think that now is the time for hotels to get prepared. When guests do travel again, it’s likely that their expectations will have changed. Properties need to anticipate these changes in order to regain business.

This includes thinking about…

Updating your hotel operations

How ready is your hotel to open at any point? Many businesses have currently suspended services, and as of today there’s no exact date when business can resume. But there’s a chance that you’ll have little notice when the time does come, so hotels need to think about what steps are needed to re-open efficiently. And what about additional health and safety measures? It’s likely that new regulations will be introduced, so your property needs to update operations. And let’s not forget about your workforce. A proper communication plan will be key to ensuring these changes are properly implemented.

The new normal for guests

When travel resumes, guest expectations will not be the same as before. What new trends will have come of out of this experience? We predict that health and safety concerns will be top of mind for many travellers, so thinking about additional steps to meet these will be key for businesses.

Guest profiles

When travel does start to pick up, it’s important to think about who will visit your property first. Consumer confidence is down, so it’s not enough to assume your previously loyal guests will simply return to old habits. Properties need to understand these guest profiles, and how to deliver on the needs of each of these.

Between them, Amadeus have over 30 years of experience in the Hospitality industry, working with companies across the globe. On the 28 April webinar they will use our combined experience to talk about:

  • What are they key housekeeping and operations steps your hotel needs to take
  • How technology plays an essential role in delivering the right experience
  • How traveller trends might change and how your hotel can embrace this
  • What types of guests will be visiting your property and how operations can help to deliver a memorable stay

Join the webinar on Tuesday 28 April at 15.00 BST with Custodio Barreiras and Nato Almasy from Amadeus Hospitality.
