‘Power Teams beyond Borders: How to work remotely and build powerful virtual teams’ by Peter Ivanov | Review by Jupiter Humphrey-Bishop MIH
Explaining how we can turn failure into great success and step up our business performance by putting teams at the heart of our working practices, the author provides dynamic encouragement to bring everyone together through positivity, which is inspirational.
In part one of the book the author talks about ‘building trust and clarity’ from discovering, dreaming and goal setting. He emphasises the point: “A dream you dream alone is only a dream, but a dream you dream together is reality.”
When we establish a team, it deepens awareness, and this leads to greater appreciation and recognition. The uniqueness of each team from its values, diversity, and culture, brings a profound identity and style that can be embraced, delivering a core strength and power that should not be underestimated.
From the days of Covid lockdowns, the world of remote and virtual working was born and has endured, creating a sense of disconnection at work for some teams.
Although this new way of working through online, virtual connections and online teams is hardly a substitute for real-life physical connections, the author sheds light on new ways to begin your journey of exponential growth, by enabling your team to “become a virtual Power Team”.
The author gives step-by-step structures and examples of exercises to use with your teams to build on personal connections, which creates better trust and understanding of each team member, their strengths and passions.
The ‘Importance of Empowerment’ chapter builds on that foundation. For example, by following the ‘Strength Matrix’ to help your team focus on building their attributes, rather than developing their weaknesses, you can bring the team to strive towards success.
Dive into chapters from ‘How to uncover people’s natural strengths’ to ‘How to create a team vision’ will help transform your team into a strong, resilient and connected powerhouse.
Further into the book, the author discusses the importance of motivating teams, explaining the qualities needed to stay inspired when working virtually, and how the right mindset for cooperation can be developed.
Jupiter considers this book is a great read for anyone looking to expand their knowledge of creating and bringing together teams virtually and an inspiring insight into the world of online working connections.
