IoH North of England Region relaunched with Matt Townley FIH announced as chair

The IoH has launched its new North of England Region with Matt Townley FIH, Regional Operations Director, Dakota Hotels, selected as its new chair.

The rollout of the latest English region to be reformatted and relaunched is the continuation of the IoH’s regional strategy to deliver IoH activities to its members, at a local level.

Robert Richardson FIH MI said: “I’m delighted we have now launched our new IoH North region and that Matt has been chosen to drive our activities in the North forward. Matt has worked with the IoH on various projects including our webinars, ‘Keep the Faith in Hospitality’, is a member of our IoH College of Fellows and has worked in hospitality for many years. He has great knowledge about our commitment to our members and our standards and will be a huge asset to the IoH team and to local members.”

Speaking about his new role as IoH North Region Chair, Matt Townley FIH commented: “I’m delighted to take on the role of Chair for IoH North Region. The IoH has taken huge strides in the last 18 months growing its membership by becoming more inclusive and relevant than ever before. I’m excited to help develop the IoH’s presence in the North of England, and to deliver a range of activities to engage our loyal, existing membership, encourage new members and promote the IoH’s career development and lifelong learning resources.”

Commenting on the ongoing rollout of the English regions, Robert said: “Promoting the IoH’s work and supporting our local members in the North of England is essential. As the only global professional body for the Hospitality Industry, and as we look toward our aspiration of Chartered Status next year, we want to demonstrate that hospitality really is a fantastic career choice. It is dynamic, inclusive, exciting and has high professional standards. With Matt and his soon-to-be-appointed committee, we hope many more hospitality professionals will say #imin.”

Matt concluded: “We look forward to supporting Robert and his team in gaining Chartered Status in 2023 and are excited about working collaboratively with the other regions across the UK and worldwide.”
