Institute Achieves Disability Confident Employer Level 2

11 June 2026

We are delighted to confirm that the Institute has achieved Disability Confident Employer Level 2 status under the UK Government’s Disability Confident scheme.

The accreditation recognises employers that are taking positive action to recruit, support and develop disabled people and those with long-term health conditions in the workplace.

The Institute previously held Disability Confident Committed Level 1 status and has now progressed to Level 2 following a review of its policies, practices and commitment to inclusion.

Joanne Smith FIH, Head of Operations at the Institute of Hospitality, said: “As a professional body that champions people across hospitality, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to develop, contribute and succeed. Achieving Disability Confident Employer Level 2 status reflects our commitment to creating an inclusive workplace where people feel supported and valued.

“People are at the heart of hospitality, and they are at the heart of the Institute too. This is an important recognition of the work we have undertaken to create an inclusive and supportive workplace. We know there is always more to do, but this achievement demonstrates our commitment to ensuring that opportunities within the Institute are open, accessible and welcoming to all.”

The Institute remains committed to promoting diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging across the hospitality profession and within our own organisation.
