Hospitality Action Looks Ahead to 2026

9 January 2026

Hospitality Action Looks Ahead to 2026 | Institute of HospitalityHospitality Action is preparing for 2026 following a landmark year that saw the charity deliver more support to hospitality workers and their families than at any point since the pandemic.

In 2025, Hospitality Action awarded around £1.05 million in grants, the highest annual total in the charity’s history outside of COVID, alongside unlocking more than £500,000 in unclaimed benefits for beneficiaries. Hundreds of individuals were also supported through specialist housing advocacy and debt restructuring services, helping hospitality families navigate some of the most challenging circumstances they have ever faced.

This surge in support comes amid a sharp rise in demand. Applications for assistance increased by 30% compared with the previous year and by 118% since 2021, driven by rising household debt, ill health, relationship breakdown and ongoing economic uncertainty across the sector. With further job losses and business closures expected in 2026, Hospitality Action anticipates continued pressure on its services.

None of this work would be possible without the extraordinary commitment of the hospitality industry itself.

Throughout 2025, supporters walked, cycled, sailed and climbed in aid of the charity, while thousands took part in Walk for Wellbeing across the UK. Operators and suppliers also raised vital funds through initiatives such as Invisible Chips, prize donations, charity partnerships and event sponsorship.

Looking ahead, Hospitality Action is inviting organisations of all shapes and sizes to partner with the charity in 2026. From adding an optional £1 donation to guest bills to sponsoring flagship events such as Back to the Floor, the South West Polo Day or regional challenges, there are numerous ways for hospitality businesses to get involved while raising their profile and demonstrating a positive workplace culture.

The charity also continues to offer one of the most comprehensive and cost-effective Employee Assistance Programmes (EAPs) in the sector, providing wraparound care, a free helpline and access to financial, emotional and practical support for hospitality teams nationwide.

As Hospitality Action enters 2026, its message is clear: with the continued support of the industry, the charity will stand alongside the most vulnerable people in the sector, through thick and thin.
