Institute signs Age Friendly Employer Pledge

23 May 2024

The Institute has signed the ‘Age-Friendly Employer Pledge’, an initiative run by the Centre for Aging Better, to show its commitment to the importance and value of older workers.

The nationwide employer pledge encourages employers to commit to improving work for people in their 50s and 60s and taking the necessary action to help them flourish in a multigenerational workforce.

IoH CEO Robert Richardson FIH MI said: “Signing this pledge shows our commitment to providing older people with the opportunity to continue to share their immense experience, expertise and wisdom. This is another part of our DEIB strategy which now goes hand in hand with our previous recognition as a Disability Confident Employer. A scheme run by the UK government which verifies that all our internal processes and procedures have been audited to confirm we are an equal opportunities employer for people with hidden or visible disabilities.

I would encourage any hospitality employer to sign the pledge and embrace the importance and value of older workers in the workplace” confirmed Robert.
