As our Above & Beyond networking event draws near, we are proud to highlight some of the standout elements of the evening that exemplify our commitment to inclusion, opportunity, and community engagement.Taking place on 29 September at Bournemouth’s Marsham Court Hotel, our Above & Beyond guests will be treated to a selection of canapés prepared and served by the talented students from The CRUMBS Project, an award-winning disability training charity working to help change the lives of disadvantaged and vulnerable adults and promote opportunities through hospitality-based ‘training for independence’.
Marsham Court Hotel was the proud winner, for the second year in a row, of The Gregory De La Peña-Hall FIH Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging Employer of the Year Award at the IoH Annual Awards earlier this year. Under the guidance of Operations Director James Dixon Box MIH, recently appointed by the UK Government as the UK Disability & Access Ambassador for the Hospitality Industry, the hotel has implemented a range of initiatives to support both guests and staff with additional needs.
James will be part of the panel discussion on Belonging in Hospitality, hosted by the Institute’s DEIB Council’s vice chair Dr Maria Gebbels MIH, and also featuring the IoH’s DEIB Lead Rya White AIH, Professor Peter Jones MBE FIH from The CRUMBS Project, Dr Xuan Lorna Wang FIH of University of Surrey and Professor Adele Ladkin from Bournemouth University Business School.
With some of the most respected voices in hospitality and academia, we can’t wait to hear what the panel has to say. And of course, it wouldn’t be an Above & Beyond without networking with drinks and canapés, making this an event not to be missed!
