Latest issue of Institute of Hospitality magazine – out now!

12 October 2026

The latest issue of Institute of Hospitality Magazine is available to read today, packed with articles and expert insight into what the future of hospitality looks like. From inspiring the next generation to protecting community pubs, preserving historic buildings and turning customer demand into sustainable growth, our latest edition explores the people, places and ideas shaping our industry.

In Early Education Counts, we highlight the importance of introducing young people to the many opportunities available in hospitality. It is a fitting starting point for an edition that looks beyond the day-to-day, considering how the industry can build a stronger future through education, collaboration and investment.

With pubs continuing to face significant financial pressures, Katherine Price MIH explores how communities are coming together to save their local in Keeping It in the Community. From the Red Lion in Hertfordshire, to the Radnor Arms in Powys, and The Bevy in Brighton, the feature showcases different approaches to community ownership. These stories demonstrate how local support, shared investment and a willingness to adapt can help preserve much-loved spaces while keeping them commercially viable.

Heritage is another intrinsic part of hospitality’s story. In Landmark Decisions, Rishabh Vaish MIH examines the challenges of bringing historic buildings into new use, exploring the balance between preserving their heritage and creating successful hospitality destinations. It is a reminder that protecting the past and planning for the future need not be mutually exclusive.

We also consider the role hospitality plays beyond traditional commercial settings. In Food for Thought, the brilliant Catherine Chetwynd MIH, in her last edition as editor, examines free school meals and the questions surrounding the quality and provision of school food, including the investment needed to support effective delivery.

There are valuable insights for businesses looking to make the most of customer demand. Javier Campo, SVP EMEA at our Partner, Hospitality at Amadeus, explores how hotels can turn high demand into lasting growth, looking beyond occupancy figures and immediate bookings to build stronger guest relationships, proving that a confirmed and paid-for booking is not the end of the sales process, but the beginning of a deeper relationship.

A fond farewell to our editor

This edition also marks the end of a significant chapter for IoH Magazine, as the final issue edited by Catherine Chetwynd MIH.

Over six years as editor, Catherine has helped shape the magazine, overseeing its redesign, the introduction of digital content and the development of features showcasing the breadth of knowledge and experience across hospitality.

In her farewell, End of a Chapter, Catherine reflects on her time with the Institute and thanks the IoH team, contributors and Editorial Forum for their support and collaboration.

All of us at the Institute of Hospitality are hugely grateful to Catherine for her commitment, expertise and contribution to the publication. Her work has helped ensure that the magazine continues to share insightful stories, celebrate industry expertise and give a platform to the people shaping hospitality.

We wish Catherine every happiness and success in her next chapter.
