What is GM of the Future?
Created by the Master Innholders (MI), this prestigious award recognises individuals with the drive and passion to become a hotel general manager. Applicants must demonstrate leadership potential and the ability to inspire others within the industry.
The 2024 winner will be announced at the Hotel Leadership Conference 2025, where they’ll also receive a scholarship for Cranfield’s renowned leadership course, designed to help early-career professionals transition into impactful leaders.
The programme includes 2 x 5-day modules on campus and online learning with 2 review days over 12 months. This immersive experience supports participants in developing leadership skills to effectively manage teams and drive success in their business.
The GM of the Future award has a proven track record of boosting careers. Past winners have included Chris Bancroft, Hotel Operations Manager at The Newt in Somerset, and Karen Weisheit, General Manager at Grove of Narberth, who have gone on to enjoy impressive careers in hospitality.

“Alongside many of our previous winners going on to have illustrious careers within our industry, the award is also about ensuring we are continuously supporting and developing our young talent and helping to position them as the leaders of our industry.”

Entries will be judged by a panel of Master Innholders and key industry figures, who will assess applicants based on:
A shortlist will be announced by 8 November 2024, and those selected will be invited to the Hotel Leadership Conference at the Hilton London Bankside on 20-21 January 2025.
Shortlisted candidates will receive a complimentary ticket for both days of the conference, including the black-tie dinner, where the winner will be revealed during a special presentation.
