NAW 2022 | Case Study | HIT Training apprentice Rositsa Dicheva

8 February 2022

Rositsa (Rossi) Dicheva is currently nearing the end of her ‘Team leading Level 3 Management’ Apprenticeship via HIT training and can’t wait to see what the future holds. Rossi tells us how being an apprentice while working in the housekeeping department at Center Parcs has helped her career, and how being a member of the IoH and using its online resources has helped her grow.

If you are considering joining an apprenticeship programme, I would say go for it, 100%. It is always good to improve ourselves, even if we are already good at what we do. Sometimes we feel that we know everything, or are afraid to start something because of possible failure. In my experience, you would be amazed by the way you will be supported, and you will learn to understand that there is always room for improvement in your skills and knowledge.

Free IoH membership

As part of my Apprenticeship with HIT Training, I received free membership of the Institute of Hospitality (IoH). This was very useful as the IoH has online webinars and shed light on actual and important topics in the Hospitality Industry. I remember attending a webinar at the beginning of last year. It was about furlough. It helped me to understand the process better and to explain it to my colleagues when I was welcoming them back to work. I managed to attend another one presented by Peter Moore CEO of Lolly about the way payments would change. It was very informative and interesting.

Highly recommend it

I have enjoyed every minute of learning and applying new skills and knowledge. I have developed self-awareness and completely changed the way I see people and situations at work. Plus my time management has improved. I’ve actually learnt how to ‘walk in other people’s shoes. I have met so many interesting people. I have gained so much from my apprenticeship and I am so pleased I decided to apply and was given a chance by my employer, Center Parcs and HIT Training. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn, advance their career and have an amazing time while working and earning their living.

When I finish my apprenticeship, I will continue to develop my team leader skills in my new role as a supervisor. Yes, I recently gained promotion from assistant supervisor! So my apprenticeship training is already paying off.

Never too late

Life is a walk that everyone has to walk, but it is so much easier when people who walked before us, have mapped it out and can share that map with us. We just need to choose which map to use!

It is never late to start an apprenticeship journey and the only reason you will fail is if you don’t try. So best of luck if you are looking to start an apprenticeship.
