To help demonstrate the commitment of the hospitality sector, the IoH is encouraging all its members to visit the UK Business Climate Hub and sign the SME Climate Commitment and be recognised by the UK government for their commitment to change.
How could your business make a difference?
No matter how small your business or what industry you’re in, your commitment could make a real difference – to the planet, to your customers and to your running costs! Even the smallest businesses produce carbon emissions – it could be through your building, your vehicles or your supply chain. The government are asking businesses to take the first step on their journey, by committing to cutting those carbon emissions in half by 2030 and to reach ‘net zero’ by 2050. Net-zero means that you are putting no more carbon into the atmosphere than you are taking out of it.
What happens when you make the commitment?
Once you register your commitment, through the UK Business Climate Hub you will receive a range of tools to help understand emissions, how to tackle them, and how to share what you’re doing with your customers and community. And in the following months, you will be updated with ideas, support and incentives to help meet your commitment.
COP26 Summit
The United Nations Climate Change Conference, called the Cop26 Summit, was held in Glasgow, Scotland from 31 October – Friday 12 November 2021. An agreement was made to commit to urgent action and tackle the climate emergency.
