These documents are the basis on which we operate and ensure clarity and fairness in all we do.
The Articles outline the rules for our constitution and operations, including membership criteria and the powers of the Supervisory Board. Our Bye-laws provide details on membership grades, our regional network, code of conduct, and disciplinary procedures.
We comply with the laws of England and Wales and, as a UK registered charity, with the rules and standards set out by the UK Charity Commission.

As the President of the Institute of Hospitality, Lord Thurso FIH MI acts as an ambassador, helping to shape the Institute’s strategy.
With an impressive background in the hospitality industry, Lord Thurso FIH MI was Managing Director of the Savoy Group’s Lancaster 5-Star Hotel in Paris at 27, before progressing to lead several hospitality businesses, including Cliveden House. Awarded a ‘Catey’ for Tourism in 2003, he is President of the Tourism Society, a Fellow of the Institute of Hospitality and a Master Innholder.
He served in the House of Lords as a hereditary peer until 1999, was the MP for Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross until 2015 and returned to the House of Lords in 2016.

The Bye-Laws govern the membership of the Institute of Hospitality including the ways in which it can be achieved, the mechanisms for upgrading and the rules of conduct of members. Institute of Hospitality Financial Statements FY 24The 19th Annual General Meeting of the Institute of Hospitality was held virtually on 28th August 2025 at 4pm.
All current Members of the Institute of Hospitality are encouraged to attend our AGM. There is no charge to attend the event, but you will be required to book a place online in advance.
