The ayes have it! MPs vote in support of the motion to create a Minister of Hospitality.
The Seat at the Table campaign to create a dedicated minister for hospitality was debated in Parliament today. More than 200,000 people have signed the petition.
Following this afternoon’s debate Peter Ducker FIH has emailed Catherine McKinnell MP for Newcastle North who spoke passionately about the industry. Here’s a few of his words. “Thank you for the passion and clarity of your speech. The threat we face is truly existential, many thousands of people feel their jobs are threatened and their businesses are in real danger of failing.
Please keep up the momentum, we are the professional body for the industry, our members are practitioners in every sector, running businesses from small cafes through to large hotel chains, plus over 4000 students of hospitality management and over 5000 apprentices – and I pledge any support I can give.”
If you missed the debate, a recording is available to watch.
