Roux Scholarship 2024 | Deadline for entries is fast approaching

16 January 2024

Time is running out for chefs to make an application for The Roux Scholarship 2024, as the competition celebrates its 40th anniversary.

Chefs have until midnight on Monday 22 January to upload their recipes via the online application system, but they must register their entry before this date too which allows the Institute of Hospitality to check they fit the criteria – age, qualifications and based in the UK.

This year’s competition promises to be more exciting than ever, with the final taking place at the Alain Roux Culinary School at the Waterside Inn, in Bray, Berkshire, which is set in the former home of the late Michel Roux OBE.

Chairman Alain Roux said: “The 2024 final will feel like a homecoming! We are literally bringing the Roux Scholarship home… to my father’s home and I could not be happier.

“There can be no better tribute, as we look to celebrate 40 years since the founding of the scholarship by my father and uncle. The legacy of which he was most proud is the Roux Scholarship. Next year, in his own kitchen, we will choose our new scholar to join the family.”

The final will be presided over by the competition’s acclaimed judges led by the Honorary President of Judges 2024 Thomas Keller of The French Laundry in California. It will be followed by an award ceremony and dinner at Coworth Park, where three Roux Scholars – Adam Smith, Kenneth Culhane and Steve Drake will prepare a sumptuous three-course meal with ingredients supplied by The Roux Scholarship sponsors.
