Room to Reward, a charity close to our hearts with IoH CEO Robert Richardson FIH MI as a Trustee, and selected by our IoH Youth Council as their charity to support in 2023, has already helped over 150 inspirational volunteers this year take some time back for themselves, as a reward for helping so many people in need.
Operating across the UK, Room to Reward works on a simple process. Hotel partners donate unsold rooms during times of the year when they know occupancy rates in their properties will be low and charities and community groups are invited to nominate their outstanding volunteers for a well-earned, 1-2 night complimentary break.
Recognising the many inspirational volunteers, or ‘Hidden Heroes’ through Room to Reward has been a lifesaver for so many.
“Thank you from the bottom of my heart. We are just back from Eastbourne where everyone at the Grand Hotel looked after us most regally. It was such a magnificent treat in the lap of luxury. As it happened, Peter took delivery of his new power chair a few days beforehand so this was its first outing. It is too heavy for me to lift out of the car so it was ideal to ask the concierge team for help. We walked for miles along the seafront and everywhere was so accessible. When Peter was settled in our lovely room with his iPad, I took myself to the health club downstairs for a swim, jacuzzi and steam on one day and a swim in the outdoor pool the next. I cannot begin to tell you how special that was. All in all, the break could not have come at a better time for us. To go away and stay in the wonderful Grand Hotel for two nights has been so very, very special and true respite for us both in every sense of the word. Thank you most sincerely for the generosity of you and your hotels to make this happen. It has meant more than words can truly tell.”

“I and my wife would like to say a huge thank you for the 2 nights spent at the Nici Hotel in Bournemouth, with Room for Rewards. It was really very much appreciated by us both and only one word describes our stay and that is “Perfect”. The hotel and its facilities are amazing and the fact that we were upgraded to a sea-view room with a sun terrace was the icing on the cake. In between the showers, we managed to get some serious sunbathing and relaxing in. Apart from a 6-mile walk along the seafront, we spent the whole day relaxing and enjoying the hotel facilities. The Room for Reward scheme is truly amazing, as are the hotels that generously donate their rooms. We cannot thank you enough.”
