Created in partnership with the Independent Hotel Show, the GM of the Future award recognises a rising star in the hotel industry, someone who consistently goes above and beyond expectations and inspires others to do the same. Shortlisted candidates are recognised for their personal and professional development in the hotel industry, their ‘extra mile’ attitude and their commitment to becoming a future leader.
The winner will be presented with the award on the first night of the Independent Hotel Show, taking place between 16-17 October at Olympia London. Along with receiving the award, the winner will also have the opportunity to undertake the distinguished Talent Development Programme at Cranfield University, Buckinghamshire, helping them to develop their skills as both a GM and business leader.
Entrants must be 35 years old or under and can work in any role aside from general manager within the hotel profession.
Alongside the GM of the Future award, the Independent Hotel Show will celebrate the luxury boutique hotel sector’s most innovative and inspiring hoteliers with its Independent Hotelier of the Year Award.

GM of the Future entries will be judged by a panel of Master Innholders, representatives from the Independent Hotel Show, and other key industry figures. Self-nominations are also accepted, with the deadline for applications on June 23, 2023.
Previous winners of the award include Karen Weisheit MIH, Hotel Manager at Grove of Narberth, Anna Sirba MIH, General Manager at The Bodmin Jail Hotel, and Samantha Rieu FIH, General Manager at The Hotel Beaumont.
