Francisco Macedo FIH MI SJS, outgoing chair of the IoH Thames Valley branch for over 18 months said: “The Thames Valley’s annual dinner 2022 was an incredible event. Over 70 guests representing different levels of members attended and everyone contributed to the money raised for the IoH Bursary Fund, without exception. I would like to thank them all, on behalf of the committee, for their support in raising so much money for the IoH charitable fund.”
The IoH Bursary raises money to help support talented individuals who, due to their disadvantaged circumstances, would be unable to join the IoH and access professional development, mentoring and career support.
Francisco, who is a committed supporter of the IoH, reflected: “For almost two years, the branch has hosted many events virtually and face to face. In the beginning, when we reignited the branch with the support of the IoH, we wanted to create a new DNA for the IoH Thames Valley Branch and stay true to it. Working together, being financially sustainable, building our IoH brand, and engaging with our membership.
He continued: “We’ve championed subjects such as accessibility and diversity in the workplace, whilst remaining relevant to the many challenges we have faced locally, nationally and globally. We have collaborated with other Institute branches sharing best practices, flying the IoH flag at every opportunity and engaging with all of our members, understanding what matters to them whilst protecting our finances. We are all very proud to have supported the IoH at a local level, raising funds for local charities, such as Launchpad Reading, and Slough Outreach, as well as the IoH Bursary Fund. I am delighted that we delivered on our mission on all fronts.”
Robert Richardson FIH, IoH CEO has been delighted by the generous donation: “This is a substantial amount and will help a great number of talented people within our hospitality family join us and develop their careers. Everyone in the IoH Central team would like to thank our colleagues at IoH Thames Valley, and all the guests, for supporting the objectives of the Institute on a global level, and for contributing to the evening’s overwhelming success.”
