New issue of IoH Magazine, available to members to read today! | Institute of Hospitality

The brand new issue of IoH magazine is available to read via our website today. Here’s what we can expect to find inside!

Given all that is happening in the world – much of it ‘challenging’ as the euphemism goes – we have launched the year and our first issue with a call to arms from our chair Kellie Rixon MBE FIH, who explains why this is a year of opportunity and why the hospitality industry is in a strong position to fulfil that.

For those who want to raise their profile on TikTok but daren’t quite take the plunge, Youth Council member Diana Steele AIH explains the pros, the infinite creative possibilities and gives a quiet warning about the downsides as well. And still on the internet, Eloise Hanson AIH explains the metaverse, its great flexibility and versatility, how it supports diversity but again, this comes with one or two caveats.

Programme recognition through accreditation and endorsement is in the Institute’s DNA and our accreditation and endorsement manager Maria Lockwood FIH gives the inside track on why any course with an IoH seal of approval is worth its weight in gold; Steve Hood, founding director of the STR SHARE Center also explains why they value IoH endorsement recognition of their training programmes and the benefits it brings to students worldwide.

We also look at the sensitive issue of menopause and encourage companies to have a policy to address the matter, especially as it is estimated that 8 in 10 women currently going through menopause are in work; this affects colleagues, friends and family, it is not a women-only issue.

And last but not least, we thank our president of the past three years Surinder Arora FIH for his steadfast dedication to the role and welcome our new president Lord Thurso FIH MI, whose dynamic career in hospitality and dedication to the industry will make him an energetic protagonist for the Institute – and we look forward to benefitting from that.

We hope you enjoy the eclectic mix of subjects covered and again, look forward to receiving your feedback.
