IoH Charity Golf Day to raise funds to help develop hospitality talent

11 April 2023

The IoH Charity Golf Day, in partnership with Caterer.com and managed by Hotel & Catering News (H&C News), has released a list of the auction prices donated so far and confirmed the last few places on the green, will be opened up to individual golfers.

The second annual IoH Charity Golf Day, being held again at The Belfry Hotel & Resort, 4-time host of the Ryder Cup, on Thursday 25 May 2023, last year raised over £5,000 to help the Youth Council start delivering a wide range of activities to retain and attract new talent into the industry.

As Robert Richardson FIH MI explains: “Thanks to the money we raised last year at our Golf Day Charity Auction, the IoH Youth Council, has helped over 120 disadvantaged people into IoH Funded Membership. Allowing those individuals access to career support and resources including mentoring, networking, and events, helping them remain and build a career in the hospitality industry”.

Over the last year, the Youth Council’s young professionals, drawn from the Institute’s Associate membership, have provided thought leadership on topics such as mental health, diversity and belonging and career opportunities abroad. They have acted as ambassadors for the hospitality industry at several academic and industry events and have hosted networking sessions for entry-level talent looking to progress their careers.

As Robert confirms: “Their impact has been felt across the IoH and the industry already. They have given a voice to the next generation of hospitality talent and helped guide them on the first steps of their career journey. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our donated auction lots, I hope this year we will raise even more money to help them continue their work. There is a lot to do.”

Denis Sheehan MIH publisher of H&C News speaking about what to expect from the day said: “We have limited places left this year for either a four-ball team or individuals to join us for an incredibly fun day. We had a great day last year with lots of publicity across H&C News and Caterer.com for those who took part. To give you a taste, please watch the video below which really encapsulates some of our amazing photos and interviews from the groups of suppliers, IoH members and business partners who took part.”
