IoH Annual Dinner & Awards 2022 winners announced

Last night (4 July 2022), saw the return of one of the biggest events in the IoH calendar, our Annual Dinner & Awards at the Hilton London Bankside, with headline sponsor Planday.

Over 320 of our hospitality family gathered to celebrate the very best in hospitality, for our biggest and most spectacular awards night yet.

Hosted by the wonderful Peter Hancock FIH, guests, including our IoH Chair Kellie Rixon MBE FIH, networked over prosecco, wine and gin thanks to our fantastic sponsors Prosecco DOC, Bobby’s Jenever and Shepherd Neame, before enjoying a three-course dinner during the awards.

Martin Traynor OBE FIH, from the UK Government’s Cabinet Office, helped present the awards during the first half of the evening. With the excitement continued between courses, as guests were surprised and delighted by our surprise flashmob of ‘singing waiters’.

The Rt Hon The Viscount Thurso FIH MI, then took to the stage to present the remaining awards, before he delivered an entertaining after-dinner speech.

During the event, IoH CEO Robert Richardson FIH said: “It was fantastic to see so many members and wider hospitality family gather together to celebrate the considerable achievements of our industry and the people within it. We wanted to showcase and celebrate the best the global hospitality industry has to offer, across all segments, and we did just that.”

“We were overwhelmed by the fantastic calibre of all the award nominations this year and it was fantastic to recognise the highly skilled talent we have” commented Robert. “The winners truly deserve our adoration.”

Best Educational Programme 2022 – sponsored by HIT Training

Talent Development Team of the Year 2022 – sponsored by Amadeus

SME: Phyllis Court Club | Phyllis Court have looked at the issues facing the hospitality industry and said how can we make a difference? Brian Turner CBE FIH | A living legend of the hospitality industry and it’s very difficult to list the amazing amount of events and work Brian has done over the years in supporting the profession. It includes training, chairing national and international culinary committees, judging at a huge number of culinary competitions, raising significant amounts of money for a variety of our industry charities, and after-dinner speaking.

Special Achievement Award – sponsored by Shepherd Neame

Eugenio Pirri MIH – Chief Culture and Operations Executive of Dorchester Collection | Eugenio’s approach has been hugely influential. His passion for what he does and the people he works with is a powerful engagement tool. His honesty, openness and transparency have been vital in bringing people on the journey. He never believes his way is right; willing to get other people involved, and use their skills and expertise to ensure the right approach has been adopted.

The highly contested Hospitality Assured Awards were also presented on the night.

As our CEO Robert Richardson FIH brought the evening to a close, he left guests with one final thought: “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. Steve Jobs may have said that, but I think our winners have proved it tonight.”
