IoH confirms endorsement for WISE Sustainability

The Institute of Hospitality has confirmed endorsement for the ‘Understanding and Applying Sustainability for Hospitality’ training course offered by WISE Sustainability through My Green Butler / My Green Academy. 

The Understanding and Applying Sustainability for Hospitality course is designed to guide learners from understanding the basic concepts of sustainability to applying sustainability to their specific job roles and daily tasks. The programme has been developed specifically for tourist accommodation owners, managers, and all staff, from housekeeping to maintenance.

Delivered online over five hours, the programme consists of six learning blocks: An Introduction to Sustainability, Let’s Get Energy Smart, Let’s Get Water Smart, Let’s Get Waste Smart, What we Buy and How We Travel, and Getting Guests Involved.

The Institute’s Professional Review Panel recognised the valuable development in raising awareness of sustainability and its importance to the future of the hospitality industry. The Panel further noted the extended reach of the programme into education and commended the programme and, in particular:

• The logical structure of the programme and its content.
• The use of ‘easy to read’ text
• The reinforcement of learning via formative quizzes and tests
• The use of instant feedback when an incorrect answer is submitted and the opportunity to have further attempts.
