The Institute of Hospitality has confirmed endorsement for a Mental Health Awareness training course delivered by The Burnt Chef Project, a Community Interest Company registered as a non-profit social enterprise that offers mental health awareness training.
The Managers Introduction to Mental Health Awareness programme is delivered over 3 hours face-to-face but can also be adapted to be delivered online. The course aims to improve Mental Health awareness within the workplace, creating a safe and open environment for an employee to talk about their issues. The idea is not to fix, but to make that person feel safe and understood. The course also highlights suitable professional help that the employee can be directed to.
By the end of the programme, attendees will be able to:
- Understand the impact of poor mental health on their team
- Pro-actively tackle workplace stress
- Improve their ability to identify potential mental health issues
- Increase confidence around how to open courageous conversation
- Listen actively and with empathy
- Signpost relevant support systems.
The Professional Review Panel commended the programme and, in particular:
- The production and delivery of a course of this nature which is aimed directly at the hospitality industry
- The design and content of the programme.
