IoH confirms accreditation for University of Central Lancashire, Cyprus

The Institute of Hospitality has awarded accreditation for five years to the University of Central Lancashire, Cyprus for their undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes in hospitality, tourism and events management.

The BA (Hons) Hospitality and Tourism Management programme is designed to develop a responsive approach to the industry and to develop the requisite academic, personal, professional and managerial skills necessary for a career within the hospitality and tourism industries. An important element of the programme is a combination of theory and practice through an opportunity for a work placement. The BA programme is delivered over four years full-time, or six years part-time.

The MA Hospitality, Tourism and Events Management programme has a strong focus on the development of employability for students. The programme aims to develop students’ knowledge and understanding of relevant management theories, students’ critical knowledge of management issues and prepare them for a career in hospitality, tourism, events or a related occupation. The MA programme is delivered over one year full-time or two years part-time.

The Professional Review Panel commended the programmes and, in particular:

  • That the graduates of these programmes are awarded dual degrees, from the University of Central Lancashire Cyprus (UCLan Cyprus) and from the University of Central Lancashire, UK.
  • The qualifications and publications record of academic staff.
  • The commitment to CPD and especially for staff to gain teaching qualifications or recognition.
  • The student support services especially the Language Academy and the WISER initiative.
