Artelium Wine Estate

Artelium is an English wine estate on the South Downs, just 40 minutes south of London.

Founded by Mark Collins and Julie Bretland, we’ve grown from our first plantings in 2018 to around 27 hectares of vines across two sites, East and West Sussex, with our own winery on site since 2022. We believe great wine starts with the land, which is why we’re on a regenerative journey across our vineyards, working with our soils rather than against them to farm in a way that gives back as much as it takes.

Wine, art and nature sit at the heart of everything we do. Alongside our sparkling and still wines, the estate hosts a growing outdoor sculpture trail, contemporary art exhibitions and seasonal makers markets, so a visit to Artelium is as much about place and experience as it is about what’s in the glass.

The wines themselves have earned strong recognition: Artelium won best newcomer at the Wine GB Awards 2022 and has since collected gold medals from WineGB, Decanter, and the IWSC, plus recognition as a Brand of Tomorrow 2026 by Walpole, the official body for the British luxury sector. Plantings include classic varieties like Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier alongside disease-resistant PIWI grapes, producing both sparkling and still wines.

We’re proud to welcome hospitality teams to the vineyards and winery, giving people the chance to learn about and experience English wine first-hand — from how it’s grown and made to how it’s best served and sold. Whether it’s a guided tasting, a walk through the vines, or time behind the scenes in the winery, we want every visit to leave guests with a genuine understanding of English wine and the craft behind it.
