IoH Business Partner Keenan Recycling has secured two major accolades at the IVECO Mission Awards 2025, taking home the Alternative Fuels Award and the Overall Mission Award.
Held in Birmingham, the awards celebrate organisations leading the way in sustainability across waste management, utilities, construction, delivery, and transport. Judges praised Keenan Recycling for its pioneering circular economy model and its fleet of biomethane-powered IVECO Eurocargo CNG trucks, which cut CO2 emissions by up to 95 per cent.
Keenan Recycling collects food waste from thousands of UK businesses, processes it into biomethane through anaerobic digestion, then uses that fuel to run the same trucks. The fleet of ten vehicles covers around 25,000 miles per year and can carry up to 8 tonnes of food waste per trip.
Grant Keenan, Managing Director of Keenan Recycling, said: “Our day-to-day operation demands a lot from our vehicles, which is why we needed a fleet that could meet performance expectations while supporting our sustainability mission. Running these vehicles on biomethane allows us to operate a true circular economy. To have our efforts recognised by IVECO with not one, but two awards is a huge honour. It’s a big win for sustainability and for the future of clean transport in the waste sector.”
With more than 9 million tonnes of food wasted in the UK each year, Keenan Recycling has already diverted more than 50,000 tonnes from landfill in 2024. Their success at the IVECO Mission Awards strengthens their position as a leading partner for businesses aiming to reduce emissions and operate more sustainably.
