IoH confirms endorsement for Alchemy Bartending School in Cyprus

The Institute of Hospitality has confirmed endorsement for three bartender and barista training courses offered by Alchemy Bartending School.

Alchemy Bartending School provides professional training and consulting services in Cyprus and was founded by Costas Nicolaides, the owner and Managing Director, in 2010.

The Professional Bartender Level 1 course aims to offer an introduction to the world of bartending and involves intense training for beginners as well as developing bartenders. Learners will be able to open, close and maintain a bar, and build upon their bartending and practical cocktail skills. The course will provide the knowledge, skills and techniques needed to become a competent professional cocktail bartender. Delivered in English and Greek over 12 three-hour lessons (36 hours) the course is aimed at those wishing to start a career in bartending or individuals currently working in bars who wish to strengthen their knowledge and skills.

The Professional Barista course aims to offer an intensive training covering all the theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to become a qualified Barista. Learners will be taught about the history, production and cultivation of coffee, how to use an espresso machine and grinder, how to make a perfect espresso, the correct preparation and presentation of espresso based coffees and beverages, and the practical knowledge of coffee making. Delivered in English and Greek over 6 days (18 hours) the course is aimed at beginners interested in learning professional coffee-making techniques or hospitality professionals looking to enhance their barista skills and coffee knowledge.

The Advanced Mixology course is designed for professional bartenders who seek extra knowledge and want to take their bartending skills to the next level. Learners will be taught advanced bartending skills and techniques, the art of creating syrups, liqueurs, and bitters, infusing spirits, how to create their own cocktails, and basic techniques of molecular mixology. Delivered in English and Greek over 4 days (12 hours) the programme is aimed at bartenders looking to refine their expertise in advanced cocktail techniques or professionals wishing to learn modern mixology concepts, including molecular mixology, advanced flavour pairings and using high-tech bartending equipment.

The Institute’s Professional Review Panel commended the training courses and, in particular:

  • The intensive nature and comprehensive nature of the courses.
  • The hands-on, practical nature of the courses.
  • The detail provided in the supporting texts for each course.
