Welcoming new fellows and celebrating the Fellows Award Winner 2024

8 October 2024

Over 100 Fellows from across our diverse industry gathered at the historic Royal Air Force Club in London last night, for this year’s Fellows Dinner.

Welcoming 24 new Fellows, CEO Robert Richardson FIH MI and IoH Chair Martin Traynor OBE FIH, handed out Fellowship scrolls and commemorative pins before dinner commenced.

With a motivating speech from our CEO, it was in the expert hands of Master of Ceremonies Peter Hancock FIH MI to guide the evening’s celebrations.

Winning this year’s highly coveted Institute of Hospitality’s Fellows’ Outstanding Contribution Award 2024 was Paul Gilley FIH, Managing Director of PJ Search & Selection and Founder and Chair of the London Hospitality Festival.

Presenting the trophy, at the dinner, the Institute’s CEO Robert Richardson FIH MI confirmed: “Paul truly embodies this award. He has provided a great deal of support and service to the Institute over many years, including six years serving as a trustee on the Institute’s Board, before stepping down last month.

“As founder and chairman of the London Hospitality Festival, he has created the industry’s largest annual charity football and softball tournament, attended by thousands of hospitality people and hundreds of brands every year; raising significant amounts of money for charities, including the Institute.

Robert concluded: “Paul is a worthy winner, despite another incredible shortlist of nominees this year.”

Jill Whittaker OBE FIH, Executive Chair of HIT Training provided a rousing after-dinner speech before Peter managed a busy auction of incredible prizes, gifted to us by our members, and all raising funds for the Institute’s Bursary.

The evening drew to a close with a few closing comments from our CEO: “Fellowship is a Promise. A promise to share your valuable experiences with our members and help us nurture young talent to become an essential part of their professional body. Thank you all for being here tonight, celebrating our collective achievements and for your ongoing support to the Institute and wider industry.”
