As Robert Richardson FIH MI explains: “Anyone can be nominated for this individual award which is an ongoing initiative open 24/7, 365 days a year through our online nomination form. We want to encourage people to nominate anyone from across our hospitality, leisure and tourism industry who they consider are ‘unsung heroes’. Someone who deserves to be applauded for their work, who excels in their roles and who is committed to helping others. It could be someone who goes the extra mile to look after and support their teams, a doorperson, an HR director, a receptionist, a tour guide, a swimming pool attendant, or a waitress; it’s open to everybody.
Robert continued: “Nominees and nominators don’t need to be IoH members either. You might nominate someone to thank them for an amazing experience while you were on holiday, going above and beyond their role every morning when they served you a special coffee with a smile, or simply just an exceptional incident that made you feel proud, smile, amazed, or even emotional. These people are the essence of our industry and are the ‘Hearts in Hospitality’.”
As Joanne Smith MIH, IoH Head of Operations who will be managing the scheme on behalf of the IoH confirmed: “We are all really excited about this new initiative. We have an external panel of industry professionals who will meet several times a year to consider all nominations and assess them on merit. Once recognized, the individuals will receive a year’s IoH Membership, publicity across our IoH social media, website and IoH magazine, plus they will receive a Hearts in Hospitality certificate and pin badge awarded to them at their place of work by a member of the IoH Team or panel member.”
