Episode Seven of the IoH I’m In podcast, hosted by Phil Street FIH is available to Members today (Thursday 31 March), via the Members’ area of our website or to listen to on the IoH Connect app.
Hosted as always by Phil Street FIH, the topic for discussion on this episode is: Personal & Business Evolution
The world keeps turning and change is inevitable so it stands to reason that we must also learn to evolve in our personal and business lives as well. But just how important is it. Can we expect to survive if we don’t embrace evolution?
To discuss this, Phil was once again joined by three more wonderful humans from within the IoH ranks in Diana Codin AIH, Events Project Specialist at Cisco, Shane Godwin MIH, Managing Director at Macknade and Rohaise Rose-Bristow FIH, owner of The Torridon Resort.
As always, we learned some of the compelling reasons our guests said I’m In to the IoH including, the direction of travel is exciting, giving back to hospitality, To play a part in making an impact, continuing to be inspired by others within the industry and to continue Lifelong learning,
Our guests really brought their knowledge to the table and we covered some brilliant ideas such as hearing some examples of when they have experienced their own evolution. Other ideas included: –
- Ensuring that teams evolve too
- Taking time to reflect on progress and direction is crucial for evolution
- Sometimes conditions mean that you have no choice but to evolve (Covid as an example)
- Having a great routine can help lay the foundations
- Setting goals is important but having the flexibility to navigate away from them if they are not working is even more important
- Finding your passion makes evolving so much easier
- It is important to keep working on yourself and becoming the best you can be
- Hospitality gives you excellent tools to evolve but we can get so much better at teaching and developing people here
- You have to be open to dropping your preconceptions of things in order to move forward and evolve
- We have to be teaching people how to deal with challenges and adversity as they are an inevitable part of life.
A huge thank you to our guests for giving up their time and opinion.
