The north-east of Italy is home to the some of the most dynamic wine production in the country, and to a wine making tradition going back centuries.  The cooler climate and low-lying valleys of the Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia regions are perfectly suited to the production of outstanding sparkling wines, led most significantly by Prosecco DOC.

The grapes used for Prosecco DOC are primarily Glera, a typical variety grown in north-eastern Italy since Roman times. Prosecco DOC is made using at least 85% of the Glera grape, a variety indigenous to north-eastern Italy.

The light straw-coloured Prosecco DOC offers lovely apple, peach, pear and white flower notes with a hint of citrus, with a fresh delivery, and a persistent foam.

Prosecco DOC Rosé has been a huge success in the UK.  The growing appetite for rosé wines in general, coupled with an accessible price point for a quality sparkling wine, the Prosecco DOC Rosés have found a ready customer base in the UK, and not just for summer drinking.

The wines are a combination of Glera and Pinot Nero grapes (between 10% and 15%) which are vinified red and give an added hint of raspberry to the wine’s floral, fruity and citrus notes.

Prosecco DOC wines will be served at the reception of the IoH’s Restaurant Manager of the Year Awards, courtesy of the Prosecco DOC Consortium.
