Members conducting jobs searches should refer to our management guide ‘Career and Job-seeking Resources‘. The guide explains how to use the Institute’s various resources to facilitate a job search, effective online job searching, using social media, CV writing advice and how to sign up with the right agency.

HR helpline
Members of the Institute of Hospitality have exclusive access to the Employment / HR / Immigration advice line provided by our Business Partners, Davenport Solicitors. You are entitled to 30 minutes of free legal advice.

Need assistance writing CVs and covering letters? You can use services that are “do it yourself” and offer free CV templates or refer to our many ebooks – held in the e-Resources Collection – on CV writing for different job levels and titles. Members should also refer to the our guide to Career and Job-seeking Resources.

Constructing an Extended CV is an easy-to-use tool from the Institute of Hospitality that can guide you on how to create the initial draft of a comprehensive CV.

When going through a challenging time in your career, you will find it valuable to have the guidance of a mentor. From setting your goals and discussing potential next career moves, to ideas for training and development and identifying what you are best at. IoH Members have exclusive access to our Mentor Me programme and we are always open to accept new participants.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
CPD is the term for a framework of lifelong learning and development activities, which contribute to an individual’s continued effectiveness as a professional. Institute of Hospitality members are required to engage in CPD activities to ensure that they continue to represent the Institute as competent and knowledgeable hospitality professionals. Members are encouraged to keep a log of their CPD activities using the CPD Tool located on the Member Benefits page.

Our monthly newsletter, Insight, highlights CPD opportunities including information on hospitality and management-related free or low cost training and education resources.


CareerScope is a new service set up in September 2020, aimed at supporting those who have lost their job due to Covid-19 to get back into work.

Health and wellbeing resources

As a member of the Institute of Hospitality, you have free access to the Health e-Hub app and online portal from Health Assured, the UK and Ireland’s largest employee assistance programme (EAP) provider. Health Assured’s wellbeing resources can help you overcome life’s mental and financial wellbeing challenges.
