About the Institute of Hospitality
The Institute of Hospitality is the professional body for managers and aspiring managers working and studying in the hospitality, leisure and tourism industry. We have members working in every sector of the industry and in over 100 countries around the world.
Our primary purpose is to promote professionalism through lifelong learning. This is achieved through engagement with hospitality educators around the world, through our knowledge library resources and through a programme of professional development events.
We aim to support all our members at every stage of their career and help them reach their full potential. Every part of our broad industry is supported; Managers, students, educators and suppliers.
Established in 1938, we are managed as an educational charity and our resources include publications, management guides and research, covering both our industry and other management disciplines.
Reduced MOD membership fees
Institute of Hospitality Membership is open to serving personnel of the Forces (Regular and Volunteer) and MOD civilian personnel. The level of membership available to military and MOD civilians will depend on the individual’s qualifications and their relevant professional experience. Find out more about Membership Grades.

*It is usually necessary to have been a full member (MIH) for 5 years prior to applying for the College of Fellows plus appropriate referees.

To join, complete our online application form and enter MOD25 as the promotional code to get the discounted price of £25 (instead of the normal price of £185). All new joiners start at Affiliate grade. You will then be invited to be assessed for a higher grade. This is optional.

If you are already a member with us, or have been a member previously, please contact the membership team to discuss further, rather than completing a new application form. The £25 rate is for new members only.
