These days, a business has to think beyond just being “green” to tick the box for operating in an ethical and sustainable way. Whether it is employment practice, recycling or accessibility, Andy Woodward will discuss how all these elements can combine into Quality In Tourism’s REST award to show your guests how responsibly you are running your business.
Responsible tourism is becoming an increasingly significant consideration for all guests, be it when planning a holiday or for a business stay. With the current spotlight being shone on the climate change conference, everyone is becoming aware of the impact they have on a destination when they visit. ABTA has recently indicated that 45% of people say sustainability is an important element when booking a holiday, up 6% from 2018 and 21% since 2014. It was also identified as a key factor when deciding which hotels or operators to book with, as 36% of travellers would base their decision upon its environmental record.
For this reason, Quality In Tourism has recently launched its REST Accreditation – Responsible, Ethical and Sustainable Tourism. It lets you put the badge on your business to say we are taking this seriously. Andy Woodward will discuss the Four Pillars that QT uses to accredit your property, how your actions and policies go beyond being green to consider your Environmental and economic management, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), HR and Ethical Employment and Supplier Practices and Business Compliance.
