Food Allergy Prosecution – Mock Trial – Sentencing Hearing
13 October, 2020, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm
PLEASE NOTE THIS EVENT WILL NOW TAKE PLACE IN OCTOBER.
This event, presented by Food Allergy Aware & Blake Morgan LLP, will explore a fictional scenario of produce being served that has had the allergens incorrectly labelled. The legal responsibilities of each entity involved in the supply chain of food will be examined as well as the concept of due diligence within the industry and product recall.
Everyone involved in a food business has a legal responsibility to ensure that the products they supply are correctly described and safe to consume. The costs of getting it wrong are high. Failure to control risks in food safety can result in a criminal prosecution – regardless of whether any harm has been caused or not.
The event will feature speakers from Nandos, Centre Parcs and Hyndburn Council, who dealt with the Megan Lee case that was brought to trial in 2018. They will highlight how Environmental Health officers investigate cases and what systems and best practice procedures can be put in place for all concerned in this area of the hospitality industry.
The fee to attend is £240.
