The authoritative voice of the catering equipment industry, CESA (The Catering Equipment Suppliers Association) represents over 190 companies who supply, service and maintain all types of commercial catering equipment – from utensils to full kitchen schemes. Its work includes advising legislators on areas such as Brexit, lobbying regulators and informing members and foodservice operators. It is directly involved in formulating European standards and regulations covering catering equipment – for example, it chairs the Europe-wide Technical Committee that is currently looking at areas as diverse as standardisation of connected kitchen technology and the development of a European Standard for kitchen ventilation systems.
CESA regularly writes equipment guides for leading foodservice media such as The Caterer. The Association developed the CFSP training initiative, which is raising professionalism throughout the industry by giving students a holistic understanding of how commercial kitchens operate. A new training initiative, PFS (principals of Food Service) aims to give newcomers the knowledge they need to understand the industry, to help them make the most of their career choice – and to help them start making a positive contribution.
