The Institute provides extensive resources to members to assist in planning and managing careers over a lifetime.

Helpline and Website

Members (MIH) and Fellows (FIH) of the Institute have one free telephone call per calendar year to BusinessHR's Helpline should they have questions regarding human resources issues such as redundancy, employment contracts, applying TUPE, etc. A specially reduced rate for the BusinessHR Helpline is offered to all Institute members. CV Writing, Training and Career Development Resources

Need assistance writing CVs and covering letters? You can use services that are "do it yourself" and offer free CV templates or refer to the Institute's many ebooks - held in the e-Resources Collection - on CV writing for different job levels and titles. Members should also refer to the Institute's Guide to Career and Job Seeking Resources for a listing of job support resources and online links to free CV and covering letter templates.

The Institute's own Constructing an Extended CV is an easy-to-use tool that can assist users in creating the initial draft of a comprehensive CV.

Personalised professional services charge a fee for assistance. Institute members can access professional services provided by Proteus Consultancy Ltd at a reduced rate.

Job Vacancies

The Institute provides a free listing of Hospitality, Leisure and Tourism jobs available on the Institute's home page under "Career Management".

Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

CPD is the term for a framework of lifelong learning and development activities, which contribute to an individual's continued effectiveness as a professional. Institute members are required to engage in CPD activities to ensure that they continue to represent the Institute as competent and knowledgeable hospitality professionals. Members are encouraged to keep a log of their CPD activities using the CPD Tool located on the Member Benefits page.

Members should ensure they are receiving the Institute's monthly enewsletter, Insight, which highlights Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities including information on hospitality and management-related free or low cost training and education resources.
