Sodexo, Marriott and Starwood among Top 50 Companies for Equality

Sodexo is the most effective company in the world at proactively managing equality amongst its employees, customers and suppliers, according to a survey by DiversityInc, a New Jersey-based private organisation that promotes knowledge of diversity management.

From 449 entries, Sodexo came in overall first place and was also number one for the employment of executive women and recruitment and retention of minority employees.  DiversityInc defines diversity management as the proactive management of race/culture, gender, orientation, disability and age to ensure equal outcomes for all.

Its annual survey is free to enter and sent out in October to interested companies that have at least 1,000 employees, with a due date for online submission in early February. The survey contains 200 empirical questions. Every company that fills out the survey receives a free report card assessing performance in four areas measured: CEO commitment, human capital, corporate and organisational communications, and supplier diversity.
