New regional Management Briefings launched

New for 2009 comes a professional series of regional hospitality Management Briefings, brought to you by the Institute of Hospitality and the Master Innholders, in collaboration with the British Hospitality Association and Springboard.

For just £30 (+VAT), you are invited to join the industry’s leading bodies as we unite to share unmissable insider updates on critical trade and government initiatives.Untangling the minefield of ‘red tape’ that governs hospitality, leisure and tourism business operations in the UK, the British Hospitality Association’s Martin Couchman will comprehensively detail the ins and outs of current and forthcoming legislation. Get clarification on the Working Time Directive and how you should be managing your staff breaks and rest periods, plus information on EU legislation, labour, taxation and much more.

Business briefing

Professional skills and development have been recommended as the fast-track route out of recession, with engaged employees going the extra mile, learning more in less time and displaying far more creativity. Hear the Institute of Hospitality’s Philippe Rossiter clarify the qualifications mix, the importance of continuing professional development in career management, and how the Institute’s Management Qualifications can assist in the process.

Springboard will then shed light on career promotions, work-placed training, the part the 14-19 Diplomas have to play in filling troublesome skills shortages, and engaging with schools to capture and retain talent at an early age.

Each event will also feature a local speaker, who will concentrate on issues relevant to the regional hospitality and tourism environment.

Based on the style of the Master Innholders’ popular, annual General Managers’ Conference, the morning Management Briefings are designed to deliver digestible and practical information tailored to a specific region, essential to any hotelier, Departmental or General Manager.

Events will run from 10am – 1pm, with a light lunch to follow. At just £35 per person, including refreshments, briefing materials and lunch, these regional Management Briefings are exceptional value and open to all members, friends and colleagues.
