Restaurants and Hotels asked to support Safe Motherhood Day

A global dinner party campaign by the White Ribbon Alliance (WRA) for Safe Motherhood is to take place on 8 March 2010.

Maternal and new born health is the focus of the global fund-raising initiative and hotels and restaurants are encouraged to take donations from diners on 8 March via an extra optional service or cover charge. The WRA can provide table cards with further information. Pregnancy and childbirth is the world’s biggest killer of women of childbearing age and many of these deaths are easily preventable.

The Sanderson hotel in London is to host a special launch event attended by charity ambassadors model Naomi Campbell and the UK Prime Minister’s wife Sarah Brown. Hotel du Vin, Harrogate, Yorkshire is also hosting a fund-raising dinner.
