Institute of Hospitality Annual Luncheon on 8th June

Anticipation is growing for the Annual Luncheon following the recent sold-out Fellows' Dinner. Hospitality industry managers recognise it is essential, particularly during challenging economic times, to network with industry peers to facilitate business. The Luncheon is open to both members and non-members of the Institute and promises to be an interesting mix of industry professionals.

The Royal Garden Hotel, Kensington, is the location for the event and the chefs at this 5 star venue will be creating a delicious lunch. The Institute's AGM will precede the lunch at 11:00 a.m., therefore voting Members (MIH) and Fellows (FIH) are asked to arrive for the AGM at 11:00 for Institute business. Refreshments will also be served.

Following the AGM, luncheon guests will enjoy a drinks reception from noon and the opportunity to chat with industry colleagues, Institute Business Patrons and Partners, Sponsors and Institute managers prior to lunch at 1 p.m. sharp.

Don't delay, book your attendance at: Annual Luncheon

Fellows' Dinner a Resounding Success!

The Insitute recently hosted its annual Fellows' Dinner on 1 March in the opulent surroundings of the Royal Automobile Club (RAC), Pall Mall, London. The black tie event was, not surprisingly, oversubscribed and a sell out!

The evening began with a champagne reception and guests later dined on a superb meal of venison accompanied by specially selected wines. Brief speeches were made and a rousing round of 'Happy Birthday' was sung to our unsuspecting Chief Executive Philippe Rossiter. President Peter Lederer entertained and informed the guests with his 'management parables' and has issued an important challenge to all Fellows by asking them to do their bit in supporting and promoting future Fellows of the Institute.

During the course of the event, Fellows were asked to contribute to the Daffodil Appeal to benefit the excellent work of Marie Curie Cancer Care and its staff. A fantastic £1500 was raised for Marie Curie thanks to the generosity of the Fellows.

All in attendance agreed it was a very special event.

Now, on to our Annual Luncheon on 8th June at the 5 star Royal Garden Hotel, Kensington. The luncheon promises to be equally enjoyable and great for networking. The Luncheon is preceded by the Institute's AGM at 11:00 a.m. and all voting Members and Fellows are asked to please attend.

The Winner of the Institute's 'TEA-OFF' on 13th February IS DEVONSHIRE TEA, PLYMOUTH, DEVON!

Our neighbours The Tourism Society and The Academy of Food & Wine joined us to compare Devonshire Tea, Plymouth, Devon, with our everyday tea. The Institute noticed the folks at Devonshire Tea 'tweeting' about their great 'cuppa' and wondered if it could it beat our office's popular brand? Time for a Tea-Off! When the big day came, Devonshire prevailed. Staff comments included, "REFRESHING, NOT TOO STRONG, CLEAN-TASTING, A REALLY NICE CUP OF TEA". 23% preferred our in-office (pyramid-shaped, hint, hint) tea bags and 77% preferred the Devonshire Tea, which is Kenyan. Victoria sponge, bakewells and fondant fancies were served and a most enjoyable 'elevenses' was had by all!

Congratulations to Devonshire Tea for their fine product and for being such good sports! Be sure to visit the Devonshire Tea stand at Hotelympia on 28th Feb - 4th March, in addition to the Institute's own stand in the Knowledge Exchange at N1756.

Also, it is not too late to get FREE Hotelympia tickets via their website at Hotelympia. Hurry because they will cost you at the door!
